319 Russian museums will continue to fight for the victory in the grant competition «The Changing Museum in a Changing World»

Accepting the applications for the XI grant competition  by Vladimir Potanin Charity Foundation «The Changing Museum in a Changing World" is over.

The competition annually supports the most striking museum projects throughout Russia. One of its main priorities - to create equal conditions for all the museums, regardless of their status and location.

Competition promotes the idea of ​​positive changes in the museum field , and it  is constantly changing. Thus, in 2014 it is the first hosted 63 departmental museum at universities, schools, commercial organizations. Also, for the first time it accepted the application on-line at the Foundation's website www.fondpotatin.ru. The latest innovation allowed us to estimate the extent of interest in the competition, analyze the composition of potential participants - from 593 museums, having marked at the  initial stage the willingness   to take part in the contest, 319  submitted their projects.

The most active regions  this year are  the following: Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republic of Tatarstan and Udmurtia.

The competition involved  museum  projects  from all  the  federal districts of Russia. Most of  participants are   in the Volga region - 59, behind it  - Moscow and Moscow region and Central Federal District (  49 applications ) , Siberian ( 45 applications ), the Urals (33), Northwestern (24), Far East (22), South (17) and the North Caucasian federal District ( 8) , as well as St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region (13).

The most popular this year, as last few years, remains the category «Technology of the museum exposition» (103 applications) and «Museum educational programs» (97 applications), the work in these two areas is an important part of the museum's activities.

Summing up the first stage of the competition will take place at the end of February 2014. Grant fund of 2013-2014 contest is 20 million rubles.

 «The Changing Museum in a Changing World» aims to adapt Russian museums to changing conditions of the modern world, support and promote  the best examples of museum practice. Total time, more than 4,300 applications  for its implementation have been submitted,   the winners  became 190 projects  from  83 regions.
