August 2–4,  2013, a VI All-Russian Spassky fair  of masters of folk arts and  crafts, decorative-applied creativity   is held in Yelabuga  town. For three days, famous Shishkin ponds  have turned  into a huge festive playground with fair rows, during the days of fair an All-Russian festival of bell ringing will  be held in Yelabuga likewise.

Modern Yelabuga fair revives traditions of old merchant town. Still in XIX century the town  was famous for a wide Spassky fair, which attracted traders from 86 towns of  Russia. At the time of the fair, the city became a big, colorful   and merry  fairground, and the fair itself was considered one of the most important town -wide celebration. A festival with a traditional orchestra, bells, carousels, acrobats, jugglers and dancers gave the event a sense of brightness and a kind of holiday.

After the  World War II,  the  Fair ceased to exist, and seemed forever. But in 2008, upon an  initiative of Elabuga  State Museum Spassky  Fair has again been  revived and  already gained a good reputation among folk artists and guests from different cities, towns and villages of Russia and foreign countries.
