The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan took part 37th session of the UNESCO Committee on world heritage that was held on June 16 – 27 in Cambodia. The Russian delegation consisting of responsible officials and experts of RF Ministry of culture and RF Ministry of nature, other interested departments and organizations was headed by Permanent representative of our country to UNESCO E.V. Mitrophanova.
Tatarstan was represented by aide to President of Tatarstan Republic on social issues – executive director of fund «Vozrozhgeniye (Revival)» Т.P. Larionova, head of Spassky region administration K.A. Nugaev, deputy RT minister of culture S.G. Persova, pro-rector on scientific work of Kazan state university of culture and arts R.М. Valeev, director of state historic –architectural and artistic museum «island-town Sviyazhsk» А.N. Silkin, pro-rector on international affairs and PR of kazan state energy university G.Т. Nezhmetdinova.
Representatives of 21 countries - participants of the Committee and their observers from other states-parties of Convention on protection of cultural and natural heritage of year 1972, representatives of international and national non-governmental organization — in total about 1400 persons from 121 world countries - considered a broad range of issues relating to world cultural and natural heritage.
A detailed discussion on condition of preservation of objects, included in a List of UESCO world heritage, also of Russian ones, took place .
All in all, 30 nominations were discussed at the session, of which 19 included (5 natural and 14 cultural ). Russian Federation presented Bolgar historic-archeological complex. The committee unanimously acknowledged a universal value of this object. During debates the representatives of the countries – members of the Committee repeatedly emphasized the value of Bolgar as a sacral and spiritual center and it was proposed to complement axiological attribute of Bolgar by one more criteria, which recognizes a universal world value of objects directly or indirectly linked with events or life traditions of outstanding universal significance. Modified materials on Bolgar historic-archeological complex must be presented for consideration to 38th session of the committee which is to be held in Qatar in summer 2014.
In close time, an international seminar with participation of ICOMOS (International council on monuments and sightseeing) on joint finalization of papers for nomination of Bolgar and Sviyazhsk for including in a List of UNESCO World cultural and natural heritage will be held.
In total, by present day, 981 objects (759 cultural, 193 natural, 29 mixed) from 160 countries are in the List. Qatar and Fiji, first time, included their monuments in the List this year. Russia is presented in the List by 26 objects.
