On June 29, 2013, a concert of II International festival «Music of faith» will be held in a Temple the Virgin of Consolation of All Sorrows, just opened after restoration in Sviyazhsk. Under dome of not yet sanctified temple, ancient choral melodies and fragments of the Orthodox divine service, spiritual works by S. Rakhmaninov, A. Shnitke, D. Bortnyansky and others will sound. Beginning of the concert at 12.00 am
«Island-town Sviyazhsk – this is one of the important centers of Orthodox culture of Tatarstan, - artistic director of the festival «Music of faith» Igor Ziser marks- Namely, because of this the concert devoted to Orthodox music we traditionally hold there. This year it is to take place in a Temple of the Virgin of Consolation of All Sorrows - a beautiful temple constructed in the beginning of XX century, an enormous spacious with a surprising acoustics. During several years, the temple was under restoration, an immense work has been done on its restoration.
We have developed an interesting program, presenting multi-century history of development of Orthodox music. The concert will present Greek, Byzantine, Bolgar and Russian schools, – each with its specifics, original way of performance ».
The participants of the concerts will be over 120 persons – artists of State chamber chorus of Republic Tatarstan and chamber chorus «Preonrazheniye» (Kazan), ensemble of spiritual music «Blagovest» (Laishevo), children choir «Solnechny veter» (Ulyanovsk), choirs of Sviyazhsk Uspensky monastery and Krestovozdvizhensky temple of Kazan Bogoroditzky monastery. Upon the end of the concert, a festive chime will sound performed by bell ringer Dmitry Pan’kin.
