Drama competition "ASYL" is held by the Kazan Tatar State Theater of Young Spectators named after G. Kariev with the support of  Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation.

The competition of plays for children, teenagers and youth audiences was attended by authors writing in Russian and Tatar and representing previously unpublished plays.

“This competition raises a very important issue - the development of children's theaters. This topic is indeed very relevant today. Now the federal project "Theaters for Children" is being implemented. Events in the framework of the national project "Culture" are dedicated to  development of children's theaters. The ASYL contest is another step in this direction. I am glad that many applications were submitted to the competition, more than 200 from 25 cities of Russia and 4 foreign countries, and we can expect that it will contribute not only to updating the repertoire of children's theaters, but also to the emergence of new young talents that will make up a worthy new generation of theater playwrights, ”said Dilia Khairutdinova, speaking about the relevance of this contest.

“When we conducted the directorial laboratory «Tamga» last year, we were faced with a lack of relevant plays for a children's audience. It was then that we had the idea to hold such a competition. It was organized in the Year of the Theater in Russia thanks to a grant from the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, ” director of the Kazan Tatar State Youth Theater named after G. Kariev  Guzel Sagitova said. According to her, the award ceremony will be held at the theater after  G. Kariev in the format of readings of the winning plays. Young directors will be invited for readings (rehearsals will take place during January, with readings scheduled for February).
