RT State Museum of Fine Arts holds scientific –practical conference «History and culture of old Russian orthodox and Old Belief in the Volga area, Volga – Kama and Vyatka regions in XVI – beginning of XXI centuries»

Kazansky-Vyatsky eparchy, Kazan community of Russian Orthodox Old Belief Church with support of Administration of Kazan and  RT State museum of fine arts on October  30-31,  2012, will held scientific-practical conference «History and culture of old Russian orthodox and old Belief on the Volga area, Volga-Kama and Vyatsky regions in  XVI – beginning  XXI centuries».

The conference is dedicated  to  400th –anniversary of departure of holy martyr   Ermogen, patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and faming Kazan icon of mother of God during liberating Moscow from Poles. The following problems  are to be considered:

- History of Old Belief in the Volga area, Volga-Kama and Vyatsky regions in  XVII – beginning of XX  centuries;

- Old Belief in  XX – beginning of XXI c;

- Philosophy of Old Belief;

- Culture and heritage of old Russian Orthodox and Old Belief; history and modernity.

Members of Old Belief communities, employees of scientific institutions, museums, libraries from Kazan, Moscow, Izhevsk, Glazov, Kostroma, Rzhev will take part in the conference.

Opening of the conference  – October 30,  at 11.00  in RT State museum of Fine Arts.

October 31, conference itinerary – excursion round Kazan on places linked with history of old  Russian Orthodox of XVI – XVII c. and Old Belief of  XVIII – XXI c.

In the end, a concert of chorus  of Kazan –Vyatsky eparchy of Russian Orthodox Church will sound church chants.
