The 3rd Festival of Modern Choreography #StagePlatforma (artistic director - Oleg Ivenko) will be held on November 5 and 6 in Kazan. The festival program will include lectures on modern dance, practical workshops from famous dancers and choreographers, film screenings, as well as a gala concert with the participation of soloists from theaters in Russia and Europe. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, with the participation of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil and the Union of Theater Workers of the Republic of Tatarstan.
All events of the educational program will be held at the House of Actor named after M. Salimzhanov. On November 5 (Tuesday), everyone will be able to attend master classes on contemporary-dance of the laureate of the international contest Alessandro Kaggeji (beginning at 16.00) and honored artist of Tatarstan, laureate of international competitions Oleg Ivenko (early 17.00) . To participate in master classes, you need to have comfortable clothes and shoes for dancing (ballet shoes).
On November 5, at 18.30, a lecture by Professor Sergei Korobkov (Moscow) will be held "Contemporary dance without borders and within the borders of the theater." The name of Sergey Korobkov is well known to fans of the Nureyev festival: for several years he has been making an introductory speech before the performances. Sergey Korobkov teaches world theater courses at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and the Higher School of Performing Arts G. G. Dadamyan, is head of the master's program in drama and screenwriting at the B.V. Shchukin Theater Institute.
The first festival day will be completed by showing short films from the CINEPROMO catalog: “Grymza” (dir. A. Chagochkina, 2018, 16+), “Where the dreams lead” (dir. M. Limansky, 2018, 16+), “Verka Fuete” (dir. I. Scherban, 2017, 16+). The theme of all short films is related to the art of dance. The partner of the cinema program is ANO “Cinema Time”.

On November 6 (Wednesday) at 12:00 in the Actor’s House, choreographers Marcel and Maria Nuriev will conduct an authoring workshop on partnerships (dance technique, a form of contact improvisation). At 13.30 a master-class of the Golden Mask national theater prize laureate Nurbek Batullin “Plastic Improvisation” will begin there. Participants in workshops need to have comfortable clothes and shoes for movement.
At 16.30, a lecture by a theater expert, critic of ballet, member of the expert council of the Golden Mask festival 2019/2020 Tata Boyeva (Moscow), “The mainstream of Russian contemporary dance,” will be held at the Actor’s House.

The completion and culmination of the #StagePlatforma festival will be a gala concert with the participation of ballet dancers from various theaters in Russia and Europe, which will take place on November 6 at the Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. The first festival of modern dance and stage practices #StagePlatforma was held in April 2018 at the House of Actor in Kazan. The festival program included more than 15 master classes in various areas of choreography (from classical pointe dance to contemporary dance), as well as a gala concert of modern choreography with the participation of leading dancers working in Kazan (Alessandro Kaggeji, Koya Okava, Midori Terada, Marcel Nuriev, Anna Fedorova, etc.).
In July 2018, the festival in summer edition format was held at the Kazan Kremlin (gala concert) and city parks (master classes).
The #StagePlatforma festival was conceived with the aim of popularizing modern choreography, as well as introducing a wide audience (including youth) to this art through passive and active practices. The objectives of the festival: development of the professional community, involvement of young dancers and choreographers of Kazan, creation of a platform for implementation of their creative ideas. The art director of the project is Oleg Ivenko.
