Republican festival “Iske Kazan Tugyaryak Ueny” opens in Kazan

The republican festival-contest of Tatar folklore “Iske Kazan Tugyaryak Ueny”  has  opened in Kazan. On the territory of the Old Tatar settlement, 57 folklore groups and soloists from 22 regions of the republic showed their skills. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan Damir Natfullin.

The holiday began with a meeting of guests and a partly battle, after which the grand opening of the festival and a gala concert took place. In addition to the concert program, the guests of the celebration were presented with a platform of ceremonial folklore and folk traditions. The work of the fair of folk art products was organized.

According to the organizers of the festival, from August 28 to 30, the All-Russian festival of Tatar folklore “Tugyaryak ueny” will be held in Kazan. Its opening will take place on August 28 at 17.00 at the park «Wings of the Soviets». On August 29, a competition program will be held at the Lenin KDK. The folklore festival will end with a gala concert of participants and a flash mob that will take place on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin and TGAT named after G. Kamal. It is expected that the all-Russian stage of the festival will bring together 450 participants from 17 regions of Russia.

Since 2010, the Iske Kazan Tugyaryak Ueny festival has been held by the Republican Center for the Development of Traditional Culture in the Iske-Kazan State Cultural-Historical and Natural Museum-Reserve. Its task is to preserve, revive and popularize Tatar national traditions, familiarize children and youth with national cultural values, identify and support carriers of Tatar traditional culture. Traditionally, the festival is held in 7 categories: folk song; instrumental music; harp game; folk dance; lyre-epic work; folklore-ethnographic composition; reconstruction of folklore of the early historical stages (period of the Bulgarian state, Kazan Khanate, Golden Horde).

The All-Russian festival-contest of Tatar folklore “Tәgya uryak ueny” was organized by the Republican Center for the Development of Traditional Culture in order to preserve the ethnocultural identity of the Tatar people and the interaction between the Tatar community of the Russian Federation.

Since 2008, the festival has been held in different regions of compact residence of Tatars in Russia: the Ulyanovsk, Samara, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk regions, Perm Territory, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Crimea, and the Republic of Tatarstan.

Traditionally, the festival contest “Tәgurk uen” includes eight nominations: “The best folklore and ethnographic group”, “The best instrumental group of traditional musical instruments”, “The best folklore-choreographic group”, “The best performer of bait and munajat”; "The best vocal team"; "The best vocalist"; “The best children's folklore-ethnographic collective”; "The best performer on traditional musical instruments."
