Last weekend on the Russia-Kultura TV channel, the third season of the large-scale Big Ballet project was completed. The winners of the competition in the nomination "The Best Couple" were the dancers of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil Amand Gomez and Wagner Carvalho. This is the first victory of the representatives of Tatarstan in this TV project.
Participants in the competition were 7 couples representing theaters in Russia and abroad: the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, Mikhailovsky Theater, Czech National Ballet, Opera and Ballet Theaters of Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg. Host of the project were prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Svetlana Zakharova and director, ex-director of the Latvian National Opera Andrejs Zagars.
In the season-2018, there were seven issues that were broadcast weekly, on Saturdays. Each edition was devoted to a particular style or direction of dance art: from world-famous classical examples, neoclassical masterpieces to specially designed ballet numbers for the project. A significant part of the project of the new season was devoted to modern choreography.
The talented Russian choreographer Sofia Gaydukova became the curator of the “Big Ballet-2018” project. The performances were evaluated by the jury members, which included recognized stars of world choreography: artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Estonian National Opera Toomas Edur; artistic director of the ballet troupe of the K.S. Moscow Academic Musical Theater Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko Laurent Iler; world famous dancer Vladimir Malakhov; choreographer-tutor of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, People's Artist of the USSR Lyudmila Semenyaka; famous choreographer and teacher, honored artist of the RSFSR Azary Plisetsky.
The first season of the Big Ballet show on Russia-K TV channel was released in 2012, the second in 2016. Interestingly, the participants of the first and second seasons of the project were soloists of the M. Dzhalil TAGTOiB: Kristina Andreeva / Oleg Ivenko and Midori Terada / Koya Okava, respectively.
“Big Ballet” is the only ballet competition in the history of national television, which has no analogues even abroad, not only opens up new names in ballet art, but also gives young artists an opportunity to express themselves, demonstrate in addition to flawless technique, dramatic talent, and open up new opportunities for career and creative growth.
Congratulations to Amanda Gomez, Wagner Carvalho and the teacher who prepared the pair for speaking at the competition - Mikhail Timaev with a well-deserved victory!
