October 5, 2018, at 14:00, at the Museum of Islamic Culture opening of the exhibition "Text - art. Exhibition of works-winners of the international calligraphy contest IRCICA will be held. This exhibition is a continuation of the museum project by the Kazan Kremlin Reserve, which introduces the art of elegant writing to various regions of the Muslim world.

The exhibition will feature 21 works by the winners of almost all the contests that the IRCICA (Research Center for Islamic History, Art, Culture) has been organizing since 1986, as well as 9 works by modern Turkish calligraphers.

Among the authors of works sorted out from thousands of participants are masters from various regions and countries: Egypt (Mohammed Gaber al-Sayed), Qatar (Sabah Arbili), Iran (Mehdi Fokuzande, Saber Safai), Syria (Adnan al-Sheikh Osman), Turkey (Simanur Uzun, Fatma Ozchay), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Munib Obradovic).

The genre variety of works is represented by the Hadiths (sayings of the prophet), surahs (verses from the Holy Quran), Khilya and Sharif (verbal descriptions of the Prophet Muhammad), the prayer of Abu Bakr, the closest associate of the Prophet Mohammed.

Calligraphic compositions allow you to get acquainted with the main handwritings that have been developed throughout the history of this art: from the ancient Kufi to the refined Persian and Ottoman styles. The works are decorated in tazhib (elegant decorative frame with floral ornaments).

These works are created under the traditional rules. It is even more surprising how masters who develop their art within the limits of strict canons find their unique style and handwriting.

“The beauty of a man is in the beauty of his letter,” says wisdom, and a graceful letter attracts not only the writer, but also those who see calligraphy. We invite connoisseurs and those who still have to become connoisseurs.
