On the Day of the Republic and the city the Literary Museum of G. Tukay is due to open

On August 30, within the framework of celebrating the Day of the Republic and the city, a presentation of a new exposition of the G. Tukay Literary Museum in Kazan, created after large-scale repair and restoration works in the museum building, will take place.

Literary Museum of G. Tukay was opened in 1986 to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gabdulla Tukay (1886-1913), the great Tatar poet, whose works have entered the golden fund of Tatar poetry and world culture.

The museum building is a monument of history and culture of republican significance - one of the most beautiful in Starotaratskaya Sloboda city of Kazan. The two-storeyed mansion was built at the end of the XIX century and rebuilt in the early twentieth century according to the project of architects G.B. Rush and F.I. Amlong.

Here in 1882-1906 years lived with his family Muhammad Shafi Shamil - the middle son of the famous imam Shamil, leader of the people's liberation movement of Dagestan, married the only daughter of Ibrahim Apakov, one of the richest merchants of Kazan - Bibimaryambana Apakova. Therefore, the mansion is known as the House of Shamil.

This building for the museum is chosen not by chance. It is located on the street, which today bears the name of the poet, since it is closely connected with the life and activity of G.Tukay in Kazan.

Over these years the museum has become a center that unites fans of the creative work of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, who gathers creative energy within his walls, which acquaints visitors with the creativity of the classics of Tatar literature and figures of modern Tatar art and culture.

In 2016-2018 years in the building of the Literary Museum, repair and restoration work was carried out by order of the Glavinveststroy RT, the general contractor of Vostok-S LLC.

The collective of the Literary Museum together with the scientific collective of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as scientists and writers, was engaged in the creation of scientific and project documentation of the new exposition of the G. Tukay Museum. Tukaevedists took part in the work - Doctor of Philology, Professor Z. Rameev, H.Yu. Minnigulov, F.G. Galimullin, FZ Yakhin, Doctor of Philology A.M. Zakirzyanov, Candidate of Philology I.G. Gumerov and others.

The new exposition of the museum gives a holistic view of the fate and creativity of Gabdulla Tukai, about his travels to Simbirsk Province, Nizhny Novgorod, Astrakhan, Ufa, Troitsk and St. Petersburg. It reflects the life of various layers of Tatar society at the turn of the century, the aspirations and searches of prominent representatives of the Tatar intelligentsia, the development of national thought and culture in the early twentieth century.

The museum exposition will feature live editions and photographs of Gabdulla Tukay, newspapers and magazines, with the editions of which the poet collaborated, personal belongings and documents of people from his entourage. The most valuable and interesting exhibits are memorial things, including a crockery, a wicker road basket, a towel, silver cufflinks, a metal pencil cup, an inkwell of a poet, etc.
