Masters from Tatarstan are to take part in International festival of crafts in Muscat, Oman Sultanate

Muscat International Festival for Arts, Heritage and Creativity will take place in Muscat from February 3 - 23, 2012.
The main purpose of the festival and contest between the masters – attraction of attention to the principal aspects of cultural heritage, popularization of heritage at the international and local levels; implementing conditions for creative exchange between the masters from various regions and countries, encouraging the artists for more creative activity in the sphere of crafts, awareness of the importance by the society of preserving non-material heritage next generations.
22 artists of applied and folk art from Turkic world will take part in a festival. First time, among the festival participants –artists from Tatarstan Luiza Faskhutdinova (gold embroidery ) and Ravkat Mukhametshin (jewelry art ).
The masters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Crimea (Ukraine), Dagestan (the Russian Federation) and Tatarstan (the Russian Federation) will present the unique art and craft technologies, carefully conserved by Turkic language nations– carving and incrustation on wood, Central Asia miniature, Crimean Tatar gold embroidery, Dagestan lint- free carpet weaving and Azerbaijan tufted carpet, versatility of technique of jewelry art of Turkic peoples.
The masters from over 40 countries take part in the festival – Arabic states, the Balkans, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and others. The organizers have established a prize fund in size of 100 000 $. International jury will determine best masters in 10 nominations (prize fund in each nomination – 10 000 $):
1. Carpet weaving;
2. Traditional garments and embroidery;
3. Art metal including jewelry and silvery;
4. Art ceramics and pottery;
5. Art wood processing;
6. Architectural décor;
7. Art of decorating paper and ebru;
8. Art glass;
9. Miniature and ornament, art book binding;
10. Plaiting.
First of all, the perfectness of performance, the creative author’s idea, following traditional technologies will be taken into account. Announcement of the winners is to be held on February 22 at the official closing ceremony.
Representative participation of the masters from Turkic language countries appeared to be possible thanks to interaction of International organization of Turkic culture (TURKSOI) with Islamic Research Center for History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) under Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
