Parallel programs of the Nuriev Festival: films, lectures, exhibitions and creative meetings

A number of special (parallel) programs are planned within the framework of the XXXI International Festival of Classical Ballet named after Rudolf Nuriev, which will take place on the stage of the Tatar Academic State Theater named after M.Jalil from May 10 to 23, 2018. For the first time in the program of the forum such formats as lectures before performances, film screenings and creative meetings with guests and participants of the festival are included. The novelty is designed to shade the rich playbill of plays and make acquaintance with the ballet art more profound and informative.

The program "Ballet Talk / Talking About Ballet" consists of seven lectures that will be held in the Rose Hall of the Theater before the performances of La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Shurale, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet and the anniversary concert of the Kazan Choreographic School (May 10-20). Lectures will be read by well-known art critics - ballet critic Alexander Maksov (Moscow), Candidate of Art History, assistant professor of the Kazan Conservatory Elena Khadeeva, lecturer at the Kazan Conservatory Anna Maklygina. The beginning of lectures at 17.00, duration - 45 minutes, entrance - free on tickets for the current date.

A special event of the "Ballet Talk" program will be a meeting with the ex-soloist and choreographer of the Paris National Opera, the artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Moscow Stanislavsky and V.Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater Laurent Iler. Monsieur Iler will talk about his experience working with Rudolf Nuriev, who in 1985 raised the 23-year-old Laurent to the rank of "etilali" of the opera de Paris. The meeting will be held on May 22 in the Pink Theater Lounge, the entrance by invitation (representatives of the media, figures of ballet art).

In the program "Ballet feat. Cinema ", created in partnership with the Union of Theater Workers of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Directorate for the Support of Film Projects and the organization of festivals" The Time of Cinema ", included films about Rudolf Nuriev and the art of dance. Films of the film "Visit" F. Yusupov, "Farewell to the Motherland" F. Davletshin, "Dancing in the Desert" by R. Raymond and "Kurban-novel" S.Yuzeyev will be held May 15-18 in the House of Actor M.Salimzhanov (Schapova , 37), the beginning of all events at 18.30.

On May 15, before the screening of the film "Visit", a conversation will take place about the arrival of Rudolf Nuriev in Kazan in 1992. The artistic director of the TAGTOiB ballet named after M.Jalil Vladimir Yakovlev, deputy director of the theater Yury Larionov, journalist Tatyana Mamaeva and others will share their memories. On May 16 the film critic Adil Khaibullin will give a lecture on "Plastic and flight in motion picture art". On May 17, before the film "Dancing in the Desert", a ballet master class will be given by Prime Minister TAGTOiB named after M.Jalil Oleg Ivenko. May 18 on the film "Kurban-novel" will tell the soloist of the theater of Alexander Elagin, starring in the main role, and director Salavat Yuzeyev.

During the festival, traditional exhibitions will be held in the theater. The mirror foyer will house the exposition "Two Geniuses", prepared by the theater's museum. The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Rudolf Nuriev (1938-1993) and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marius Petipa (1818-1910). In the Green Living Room of the theater, the exhibition "Nurievsky Festival: History in Costumes" will be on display. The entrance to the exhibitions is free, with tickets for the current date.
