Rifkat Vakhitov was born in 1938 in the city of Izhevsk. He graduated from the Kazan Art College and Kharkov Art and Industry Institute. He  has a big  experience in teaching. He taught at art schools in Izhevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Tashkent and Kazan. R.M. Vakhitov is a master of a wide creative range: historical paintings, portraits, still life. Much effort is given to monumental - decorative painting and architecture. Rifkat Vakhitov decorated the public buildings in Tashkent, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny with monumental murals and mosaics, where he first applied the technique of decorative ceramic tiles. Knowledge of the history of Islamic art and the traditions of Tatar folk art formed the basis of one of the leading historical trends in the artist's work. These are fantasy pictures about the Bulgarian kingdom and the Kazan Khanate, about heroic deeds that have become legend, about medieval tragedies that turned into an inescapable melancholy and sadness of the common people. At the opening of the exhibition at the National Art Gallery "Hazine" the exhibition will for the first time present a triptych "Audience", a series of paintings "The Kazan Khanate", "Mother's Prayer" (Ana Dogasy).

The basic genre in easel painting for Rifkat Vahitov is portrait painting. The artist has found his approach to the image of man - the study of the world in man. His portraits are the "dialectic" of the soul of an outstanding personality. For many years of creative work Rifkat Mukhamedovich   has created a gallery of portraits of his contemporaries and historical figures, people who have extraordinary courage, talent, a high sense of civic duty and dignity. The exhibition "History and Personality" will feature portraits of Shigabutdin Mardjani, Gabdulla Tukay, Salikh Saidashev, Ilgam Shakirov, one of the best in the portrait gallery of the artist "Portrait of Bucky Urmanche", etc. For the first time, a portrait of a Muslim politician shot in 1940, Mirsaid Sultan-Galiyev and the great dancer Rudolf Nureyev.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Rifkat Mukhamedovich Vakhitov, will last until April 29, 2018.
