In Sviyazhsk, coins and bank notes from museum and private collections

February 24 at  the State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve "Island-Grad Sviyazhsk"  the opening of the exhibition “Money loves counting. Coins and bank notes from museum and private collections " will be held.

The exhibition covers a long period of time and extensive geography. Among the valuable exhibits are coins of the periods of the reign of Alexander the Great and his father Philip, the emperor Octavian Augustus, Cleopatra, and others. A significant part of the unique collection is medieval coins. Of particular historical value among them are those minted in the city of Bulgar, where one of the mints of the Golden Horde operated. Exhibited at the exhibition and coins-scales, found during archaeological excavations in Sviyazhsk.

Visitors will be told about the famous "kerenkas", as well as talk about the tricks of money circulation during the Revolution and the Civil War.

The exhibition presents items  from the funds of GIAKhMZ "Island-Grad Sviyazhsk", the Bulgarian Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, the Scientific Library named after. N.I. Lobachevsky K (P) FU, as well as private collections - the artist, architect and designer S.A. Nasekin, the artist N.S. Artamonov (materials provided by his son, artist I. Artamonov).
