Tatarstan wins the first place at the pitching of regional film projects

November 18, 2017 at the Lenfilm Studios within the framework of the VI St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum a round table was held themed "Development of Regional Cinema in Russia" and "Pitching of Regional Film Projects".

The Republic of Tatarstan at the events was represented by  chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Yagafarov,  director of the Tatarkin State Library of the Republic of Tatarstan Milyaush Aituganova,  program director of the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival and the head of the "The Time of Cinema" project Albina Nafigova.

In the competitive program of pitching from the Republic of Tatarstan the project "Povyrga" was presented. Two more projects ("Kire" and "Gorky, who wanted to become Lesha") were presented outside the competition.

In total, 84 projects from 22 regions of Russia were sent to participate in pitching. The shortlist includes 10 projects. The expert commission included authoritative figures of cinema, representatives of the Cinema Foundation, the Sverdlovsk Film Studio, the Bulletin of the film distributor, the Mars-Media companies, CANON, RFG and others.

All   the participants of  pitching  showed decent work and received diplomas. The winners were the author and producer of the Povyrga project, Vlad Petrov and Albina Nafigova. As a prize, CANON will support the project, and provide it with a camera.

The film "Povyrga" is a drama with elements of mysticism, revealing the history of the Kazan Romeo and Juliet of the late seventies. This is the story of the boy about his parents who did not want to part with youth, and remained forever in the "seventies".

The film is created on the same name book by Vlad Petrov, who is the author and creator of two short films, one of which was "House with a Trumpet" - was shown on the channel "Culture". "Povyrga" will be his debut in full meter.

Start of filming is planned for 2018.
