In Kazan, the inauguration of the Days of Cinema of Finland was held with the support of the Embassy of Finland in Moscow, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the art association CoolConnections. The guest of the event was the Ambassador of Finland in Russia, Mr. Mikko Hautala.

At the cinema "Mir" the event together with the Embassy of Finland in Russia is held for the first time. From 15 to 19 November, viewers of Kazan can see sound, colorful films of Finnish production.

As Mr. Hautala noted, in Finland they honor their cinematography. "Our cinema is quite specific, but we are sure that it will find its spectator here."

Films presented in the program of the festival, the Kazan audience will not see in any other cinemas. In addition, Kazan residents have an excellent opportunity to see some of the pictures first, the Russian premiere of which will take place later. It is noteworthy that this event is timed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland's independence. In this country there is a whole Diaspora of the Tatars.

All films are shown in the original language with Russian subtitles. The spectator can enjoy a selection of the best films of different genres, awarded prizes at prestigious film festivals: a film directed by Aki Kaurismaki "Beyond Hope", "A Girl by the Name of Warp" directed by Selma Vilhunen, "Fencer"  by Klaus Härö, "The Tale of the Lake" directed by Marco Rochr and Kim Saarniluoto, "Armpits with cinnamon" directed by Rick Jokel.
