Report and re-election general meeting of the Union of Russian Museums held

On November 15, within the framework of the VI St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, the State Hermitage Museum hosted the Report and re-election General Meeting of the Union of Museums of Russia.

Representatives of 86 Russian museums took part in the general meeting. During the meeting, the Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky was again elected to the post of President of the Union of Museums of Russia - until 2021. In addition, the election of a new presidium of the Union of Museums of Russia was held. It included three representatives from the Republic of Tatarstan: the general director of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan Nazipova Gulchachak Rakhimzyanovna, the director of the Kazan Kremlin State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve Valeyeva  Zilya Rakhimyanovna and the general director of Elabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve Rudenko Gulzada Rakipovna.

At the meeting in St. Petersburg, the Union of Museums of Russia discussed the most acute issues related to the status of museums, the restoration of monuments, as well as problems with legislation in the field of culture.

The Union of Russian Museums was established in 2001 to protect the collective interests of the museum community, to help create favorable financial and economic conditions for the activities of the Union's members, to solve professional and social issues and problems in museums in Russia.
