Today the National Art Gallery "Hazine" has opened a photo exhibition "Ancient customs and traditions of Bulgaria"

Honorary guests at its opening were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Russian Federation Mr. Boyko Kotsev and Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Sibagatullin.

The photographs show ancient rituals and traditional Christian customs associated with the history and folklore of Bulgaria. This is the view of photographers on unique Bulgarian traditions, such as: nestinarstvo (ritual dance on hot coals), kukery (rituals for Maslenitsu or Christmas tree), games with bagpipes, lazars (spring dances of unmarried girls), men dance in icy water on St. George's Day - January 6, riding on horseback - the day of St. Theodore and others.

"Herelove and warmth are felt to their customs, to their people," said RT Minister of Culture Airat Sibagatullin. "I hope that this exhibition is not the last one, because I want to see as many works by other artists and masters of applied art as possible."

According to Mr. Boyko Kotsev, this exhibition in Kazan opens Days of Bulgarian Culture. "Their holding is symbolic for us, because the roots of our common history are on the Tatarstan land, as evidenced by numerous monuments of architecture and culture," said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The exposition, which was organized jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Russian Federation, and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Moscow, includes the works by 14 Bulgarian masters, members of the APF: Alexander Mikhailov, Ani Petrova, Anastas Tyrpanov, Bogdan Stoyko, Vladimir Machokov, Evgeni Dimitrov , Ivan Vasilev, Yordan Yordanov, Lilia Yotova, Petar Abadzhiev, Radil Radilov, Stefan Markov, Tikhomira Metodiyeva - Tyhich, Tsvetan Tomchev.

Tomorrow  the photo exhibition will continue its work at the Mir cinema hall, where from October 30 to November 3, 2017 there will be screenings of Bulgarian films with Russian subtitles: Yesterday (directed by Ivan Andonov), Barrier (Barierata, director Christo Hristov), "Convicted souls" ("Osyedeni dushi", director Vylo Radev), "Stars in the hair, tears in the eyes" ("Zvezdy in kosite  slzy in ochite", director Ivan Nichev).
