In Moscow, in the Blue Hall of the Russian State Library for the Arts, an exhibition of photographs "Moments and eternity: images of Tatars in photographs of the late XIX - early XX centuries from the collections of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan" was held.
The exposition presents more than 70 valuable photos from the funds of the department of manuscripts and rare books of the library. At the end of the XIX - beginning of the XXth century, photography became firmly established in practically all layers of the Tatar population. Particularly willing would order a memory card in the salons. Exposed photos were made in photographic studios in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Astrakhan, Ufa, Perm, Orenburg, Yalta, Sarapul, Samara, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Poland.
Exhibited at the exhibition are original photographs from the family archives of the publisher and public figure Fatih Karimi, theologians and public figures Rizaetdin Fakhretdin and Shigabutdin Mardzhani, Galiassgar Kamal, young Tatar merchants, teachers of madrasahs Muhammadiyah, shakirdas, teachers Shagi and Khadidzhi Islamov (Kazakhstan), village families from Vyatka and many others are a valuable source for studying the history and culture of the Tatar people.
The opening ceremony was attended by Director of the Russian State Art Library Ada Kolganova, Deputy Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation Azat Akhtareyev, Deputy Director of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Khadiyev.
A.A. Kolganova noted that the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan is distinguished by immersion in history and culture. "It has great specialists, thanks to which we managed to realize our first such joint project," she said. A.Ch. Akhtareyev thanked the library management for the unique opportunity to get acquainted with historical photographs that captured an amazing time in which prominent figures of Tatar culture, art, and literature lived.
The history of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan, which is almost 153 years old, was told by Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan, I.G. Khadiev. Head of the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books of the National Bank of the Republic of Tatarstan A.Z. Zagidulin told about the formation of a unique collection of photographs in the library's fund. In his speech, the Moscow photo collector and filocartist Nizami Ibraimov emphasized the high professionalism of the specialists of the two libraries in the preparation of the exhibition, and also on behalf of the Crimean Tatar community in Moscow and personally handed to the funds of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan unique letters written in 1946 by Tatar writer Kavi Nadzhmi.
