The artistic director of the Kazan Conservatory Opera Studio emphasized the importance of national performances in  repertoire of the collective: "We must perform national operas. We are not  imbued  so by  foreign classics  but more  by   Russian or Tatar music: we are not native speakers of Italian, French or German. On domestic plays, the public either laughs heartily, or lives   through. This is because every sound is felt by the performers and therefore penetrates into the heart."
