October 1, 2017 marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of Lev Nikolaevich Gumilev.
In honor of this memorable date on October 2, 2017 at 12.00 in Kazan (the beginning of the St. Petersburg Street) laying flowers at the monument of the Soviet historian-ethnologist, archaeologist, orientalist, writer and translator will be held.
The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan, prominent public figures, writers and poets.

The famous son of famous parents - Lev Gumilev was born in the family of silver-age poets Nikolai Gumilev and Anna Akhmatova - spent two terms in the camps. As Gumilev himself said, "before the war I was sitting at dad , and after the war - for my mother." Lev Nikolaevich had time to take part in the Great Patriotic War, service in the Red Army was the only way for a young man to return to scientific work. During his life, Lev Nikolaevich participated in 21 archaeological and geological expeditions, wrote 12 monographs and more than 200 scientific articles.L.N. Gumilev devoted his publications to the history of the Turkic peoples, the Khazar Khaganate and the history of the Hun. The scientist was known as a translator of Persian poetry, his works reveal the features of the cultural and historical development of the Tatar people.
