Archiereus’s male choir of the Kazan diocese performed in Germany

27 September 2017, Wednesday

In the first days of September, in the framework of the cultural exchange between the Republic of Tatarstan and the federal state of Thuringia, on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, a trip of the archiereus’s  male choir of the Kazan diocese to Germany took place.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Department of International Relations of the State Chancellery of the Free State of Thuringia of the Federal Republic of Germany organized performances of the choir in the cities of Erfurt, Jena and Gera.

The choir performed a solo spiritual program, consisting of liturgical chants of the composers Chesnokov, Kastalsky, Arkhangelsk, Dinev and others, as well as folk songs. Along with this, the Kazan collective took part in the performance of the 13th Symphony by D. D. Shostakovich in conjunction with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the city of Hera under the direction of Laurent Wagner.

The Kazan collective greeted the audience warmly and asked for an encore.

The Prime Minister of Thuringia, Bodo Ramelov, expressed his hope for the subsequent development of cultural exchanges between Russia and Germany and wished the choir director Denis Rogov and the whole team further success.

It should be noted that during the trip abroad the choir members visited the Orthodox churches of Germany: the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in the city of Weimar and the temple-monument of St. Alexius of Moscow in Leipzig.
