Beginning authors from around the world will compete for the literary award "At the beginning was a word"

The competition “AT THE BEGINNING WAS A WORD” is held under the auspices of the Russian Writers Union. Prize-seekers and prose writers - citizens of the Russian Federation and other countries who create works of art in Russian, under the age of 45 years old, may become candidates for the prize.

You can apply for a prize in three categories: Poetry, Prose, and Literature for Children. Applications are accepted until April 25th. After this, a regional selection will be held, then the jury will form a long and short list.

Finalists of the competition will be invited to a literary seminar, where honored poets and writers of Russia, famous critics and philologists will act as teachers in front of beginning writers. The seminar will be held August 1-2, 2020.

According to the results of the literary seminar, prize winners in each nomination will be determined. In addition to valuable prizes, information about which is so far kept secret, winners will have the opportunity to publish their works.

The founder of the award is a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Evgeny Shulepov.
