The XIV International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples "Nauruz" has opened in Kazan

The opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Damir Natfullin.

Kazan and Tatarstan are the center of the meeting of Turkic peoples,  Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan announced at the official opening of the “Nauruz” theater festival. The festival will be held in Kazan until June 8.

“The 14th year hospitable Tatarstan and the thousand-year Kazan become the center of the meeting of the Turkic peoples,” said Damir Natfullin. “I sincerely wish the participants of the festival  peace, good and inexhaustible creative inspiration, and the spectators - joyful and unforgettable meetings with the original theatrical creativity of the Turkic peoples,” he read out a greeting on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

On the stage in front of the Kamal Theater were the Kuraisy group of Robert Yuldashev, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Filus Kagirov, the State Folklore Ensemble of Berianchek Kryashen, a group of bayan players under the guidance of Honored Artist of the Republic of Tauarstan Nail Sagdiyev, as well as the Tuvan national orchestra with vocal art of the kin.

“We   have arrived at“ Nauruz ”with a performance that was made together with the Tuvan National Theater named after  Kok-ool called “Chadagan”, ”said Honored Artist of the Republic of Tyva and artistic director of the Tuva National Orchestra Andrei Mongush.

In total, the XIV International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples "Nauruz" gathered 29 theaters with their performances from different countries. The creative marathon brought together over 1000 participants.

We remind  that this year the festival is held under the auspices of theatrical art of Bashkortostan. 6 Bashkir theaters will take part in it: the Academic Drama Theater named after M.Gafuri, the Salavat Bashkir Theater, the Bashkir State Puppet Theater, the Ufa Tatar Theater “Nur”, the Sterlitamak Theater and Concert Association and the M.Karima National Youth Theater.

The headliner of the festival will be the play "Moliere"  by  the Romanian theater Nottara (Bucharest). Author - J.-B. Moliere and M.A. Bulgakov, director - R. Feodori (Krasnoyarsk). The performance will be shown on June 7 at the Big Stage of the Tatar State Academic Theater named after G.Kamala.

For the first time in the history of "Nauruz" a showcase will be held - producers from Romania, Georgia, Turkey, Poland, Germany, Hungary and Norway are invited to watch the festival performances.

The performances of the XIV "Nauruza" will be presented at 7 theater venues in Kazan: the Great and Small halls of the Kamal Theater, the Great and Small Halls of the Ekiyat Puppet Theater, the Tinchurin Theater, the Kariev Theater and the Theater for Young People. There will also be played on the square in front of the Kamal Theater and on the embankment of   the Lake Kaban. Tickets are available at the box office, on the websites of theaters, as well as from ticket operators.

The founder of the festival is the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation, the Union of Theater Workers of the Republic of Tatarstan. The organizer is the Tatar State Academic Theater named after G.Kamala.

The main goal of “Nauruz” is the strengthening of inter-theatrical ties and the mutual enrichment of the theatrical culture of the Turkic and other peoples of the Russian Federation and foreign countries. For the first time the festival was held in 1989 by the decision of the Union of Theater Workers of the USSR in Almaty. After the collapse of the USSR, the annual festival was not held for 5 years. The revival of the festival "Nauruz" took place in 1998, thanks to the initiative of the Republic of Tatarstan. From now on, the festival began to be held in the capital of the Republic - Kazan, once every four years and received International status. Since 2009, the festival takes place once every two years. Since 2010, under the auspices of the festival, the International Theater and Education Forum "Nauruz" has been held. Within the framework of the forum, seminars and master classes are held on acting and directing skills, theater studies and management in the field of theatrical art.
