In Kazan, the memory of Musa Jalil honored

August 25 was the Day of Remembrance of Musa Jalil and his comrades-in-arms. At first, a poetic performance took place, after which chairman of the Writers' Union of Tatarstan Danil Salikhov made a speech at the monument of Musa Jalil.

"1944 year, August 24, 74 years ago the poet and his associates died in fascist dungeons. 11 Tatar fellows gave their lives for our peaceful life. I want to wish all of us a restful life and a peaceful skies, "Danil Salikhov said in his speech.

Deputy Culture Minister Svetlana Persova spoke. "On August 25, 1944, 11 Jalilovites were executed in the Plotsensee prison in Berlin. The time was 12.18. Jalil guessed how the Soviet authorities would react to the fact that he had been in German captivity. And in November 1943 he wrote a poem "Do not believe!".

This year we celebrated the 112th anniversary of the hero-poet Musa Jalil. His poetry, inspired by high human ideals, filled with a passionate love for people, found the way to millions of hearts. Musa Jalil is an honor and dignity of the national culture, a master of unique lyrical talent with his special philosophical worldview, a prophetic aspiration for truth. The poetry of Musa Jalil bears the truth of life, calls for the struggle for ideals, for justice and freedom. The feat of Jalilovites will remain for the young generation an immortal example of human courage, selflessness and selfless love to their homeland and their people. I thank everyone who came to pay respect and wish you all peaceful skies, good and prosperity, "Svetlana Persova said.

The culmination of the event was the appearance of the daughter of Musa Jalil - Chulpan Zalilova. "Every year we come to Kazan with my family. On the day of sorrow, I want to be among people who remember and love my father and all Jalilovites. It was in Kazan that I saw my father for the last time and said goodbye to him, "she said.

After the speeches, the participants paid tribute to the memory of the hero with a minute of silence and laid flowers on the pedestal of the poet.
