Kazan hosts VIII World Beach Handball Championship

From July 24 to July 29, 2018, the VIII World Beach Handball Championship will be held in Kazan.

32 men's and women's national teams will take part in the competition. In the history of the World Cup, which takes place every two years since 2004 - it's a kind of record. At this time, according to the results of the qualifying competitions, several teams have just started the championship. For the first time in men, men have the chance to compete for the gold medals of the team of New Zealand, Sweden and Vietnam, women - teams from France, the USA, Greece, Mexico, Paraguay and Vietnam.

Undisputed favorites of the competition for men and women - teams of Brazil. To date, these are the most successful teams. The men's team participated in all eight championships, won 4 times - in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, and women\s team  became the holderr of gold three times - in 2006, 2012, 2014. The last championship was held in 2016 in Budapest. Then, the world champions became the men's team of Croatia, defeated in the final Brazilians, and the women's team of Spain, which in the final was stronger than the Brazilians.

For Kazan, this is not the first beach handball competition. Since 2014, the city annually hosts a festival of beach sports, which includes a handball tournament, but beach competitions of such an international scale will be held here for the first time.

The tournament will be held on the courts of the Center for Beach Sports, located on the street. Sibgata Hakima, 70.
