26 February 2018, Monday

Firinat Khaptukhaevich Khalikov is a recognized artist, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan,  a laureate of the  G. Tukai  State Award Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan,  a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Firinat Khalikov was born in 1957 in the city of Donetsk of the Ukrainian SSR. He graduated from the Kirov Art College named after  A.A. Rylov, then he studied in Kazan at  the Creative Workshop of Painting of the Russian Academy of Arts under the guidance of Academician, People's Artist of the USSR Kh. A. Yakupov.

F. Khalikov   has  won popularity  by  large-scale paintings on historical themes. For more than twenty years he has embodied in his works dramatic pages of history. In contact with historians and archaeologists, he creates a collective image of medieval Kazan. In his  multi-figured canvases and historical landscapes, thousands of interested viewers see the Ancient Kazan lost in the annals of history: its building power (fortresses, mosques, khan's palaces, parades, colorful bazaars) and legendary Kazan (Syuyumbike, Kul Sharif, Muhamedyar, etc.).

The art of the master of historical and architectural reconstructions is combined with the skill of a wonderful landscape painter and ethno-portraitist. His landscape paintings are perceived as a poetic story. A special love is permeated with those works of the painter, in which he shows the life and life of the villagers.

An interesting page of creativity of Firinat Khalikov is drawing. The graphic works of the artist can be called "reflections with a pencil in his hands." Graphic thinking, so characteristic of the art of the Islamic world, was vividly embodied in the monumental and decorative works by F. Khalikov connected with the ornamental calligraphy of mosques in Kazan and Moscow.

At the opening on March 1, 2018 at the"Hazine" exhibition  more than fifty works of painting and graphics  by  Firinat Khalikov will be presented  from the collection of the RT National  Museum and from the collection of the artist, created by him in different years of life.
